Favourite Lip Balms

I am a big fan of lip balms as you can get the protection you need (with optional tint/shimmer) without getting the product all over your face when the wind blows. After I did my last post, I decided to sort through my own collection of lip balms and I thought I'd share a few of my favourites with you..

The Good Ones
These are my favourite plain lip balms that do a good job of moisturising..TOP 3..
Burt's Bees Lip Balm-
Fast acting & long lasting. One of the best balms I have ever come across. 10/10
Apivita Lip Balms- All of them are great. The Honey & Chamomile versions in this picture are my favourite scents and the ones I think do the best job of relieving chapped lips fast. 9/10
By Terry Baume De Rose- An amazing lip balm. However at £35 it's quite pricey! 9/10
The others.. Mac 'Naked Honey' skin salve, Carmex, Melem, Rosal & Nude lip balms.

No 1 of the shimmery balms..
ByTerry Or De Rose Baume Precieux
This is a delux version of Baume de Rose with rose gold colored flecks inside the balm. GORGEOUS! Again it's not the cheapest product but it is definitely the most gorgeous one.
10/10 for looks 9/10 for effectiveness

The Tinted Ones
The balms that leave a little color behind.. Mac tinted lip conditioners, Burt's Bees lip shimmers, Sugar lip treatment, Lush tints, Apivita lip balms & Korres lip balms. <3 Them all!!

The Ones That I Bought Just For The Packaging..
The Apivita one is the least effective and the most plain scented of all the Apivita balms.. but I had to buy it because it's called 'Bee Princess' which I think is just too cute!!

So ladies what type of lip balms do you go for? What are your favourite plain, shimmery & tinted balms? Have you ever bought something just for the packaging?

  1. You should try Carmex Moisture Plus, Tali! I can imagine you really liking it :) The pink is gorgeous x

  2. I love lip balm that don't feel to slippy and are more of a creamy texture, I love the Nivea Milk and Honey for around the house and MAC Tinted Lip Conditioners and Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment for daywear.

I'm also guilty of buying stuff just for the packaging which is usually never a good thing.

  3. I really want to try the MAC tinted lip conditioners and the By Terry balm.

My lips aren't particularly sensitive when it comes to gloss or lipstick - but for lipbalms, I always have to be careful as a LOT of balms cause my lips to peel :-(

    The worst offenders so far:
-Body Shop strawberry balm (bought it as it was SO cool when I was a teen - but they've changed the formula since then!)
-Korres Wild Rose lip butter...love the smell, hate how it shreds my lips...

My HG lip balm is Nivea Milk&Honey...use that as a base and my lips are soft and protected all day. I prefer the texture and smell of it to the Burts Bees honey one (which is my second favourite). Other non-irritating balms include Vaseline and the EOS round sphere balms (not that moisturising but smells good and so much fun to apply).

  4. Your post made my day!!! I'm a total lip balm addict and I'm always hunting such posts with other bloggers' favourites ;)

Yesterday I bought the Apivita honey lip balm and it's sooo nice, I was surprised as they used to make a honey lip balm that stinked but they obv changed the product when it got the "bio-eco" tag.

I've bought numerous H&M lip balms purely for their packaging! Also, I tried my sister's 8-hour cream and it acts reparatively on my chapped lips but I can't stand its smell! Eww! I'd rather slap on pure Vaseline instead! xx xx

  5. You should try the Crazy Rumors one..my favs are the four of Perk and the four of Brew..I'm addicted to them maybe they are too creamy so they finished relatively soon but nothing moisture my lips like them even in the same line...I also tried the burt's bee mango and pomengrade i love the mango one, also tried honeybee gardens but I don't want order them to the usa because i'm scared of loosing them...they are really nice..supersmoocher which is uk store sell them well is the only place more convenient for me in Italy to buy from Bye"

  10. I'm a sucker for lip stuff... And I'm definitely guilty of buying things just because the packaging is 'cute'.
My favourite balms right now are Korres lip butters in Quince and Plum, and Labello Vitamin Shake with Acai Berries& Wild Apple. Last month I didn't even use lipglosses as lip balms were enough for me.
    I prefer tinted ones though.

  11. Read this post at work whilst bored witless, so a) thanks for the temporary distraction my darling and b) you inspired me to stop via Boots on the way home and pick up my first Burt's Bees lip balm. Yes my shoes and tights were so soaked through that my feet are now black, but I must say my lips are feeling nourished and full - totally acceptable trade off no? x

  12. I have the By Terry- and its is a fantastic balm. The smell (and taste is different) but I put it on at night and wake up with soft lips. IT can also be used for cuticle treatments. Dior's Lip gloss is quite good for colour, but slightly drying. Carmex is nice, but slightly drying after the initial cooling. I have yet to try Burt's Bees, but I will do :) xx

  19. Go into your kitchen and dab a small bit of honey on your lips. Promise you there is absolutely nothing better!

  20. I like the idea of tinted balms but they don't show up on my lips as they're quite pigmented.

I am addicted to Carmex though, I go through tubes of this stuff! xo

  21. I adore the Burt bees new tinted lip balm. So moisturizing! Tali I hope you feel better soon. It's easier to feel sad in this cold weather but remember you have your friends ( real and online) and your family behind you. And if all else fails, shopping always helps! :) keep smiling!

  22. Halima- You have natural tinted lips then! Your lucky!! :)

  24. I love the Burts Bee's one too, but also buy the Alba Botanicals Coconut lip balm just for the delicious taste and scent. It's a little less waxy than the Burts Bee's, so is good in winter when the Burts bees can be a bit hard from the cold :-)

  25. Wow, you have a lot. So jealous! Great post xx

  26. that pink apivita packaging seriously sells!

Have you tried the new Revlon ones? I definitely have to get one of those just because they look like the Dior lipglow!...i'm a horrible sucker for packaging.

  27. My favorites are Baume de rose, Burt's bees pomegranate, molton brown lip saver and a now discontinued honey lipbalm from REN...gutted as I loved this! :(

  28. out of all the lip balm i have tried till now, Bi Mat Cay is the best one i came across, im talking about the pink one, they do skin balms as well, which i use on my lips ignoring that it is a heel balm :) but the pink one is hands down the best one! xxx

  32. OMG! Lipbalms! I absolutely loved this post Tali! My lips are constantly dry and chapped because I suffer from eczema, and it sure doesn't help that I have to wear lipgloss or lipstick to work. I used to swear by Burt's Bees Beeswax Lipbalm but now it just doesn't seem to cut it anymore and I think I have FINALLY found my HG lipbalm in My Lip Stuff. These things are awesome!

  33. Oh I love lipbalm... I prefer those that are in stick format but somehow always end up with the pots. I hate vaseline as I think it dries lips out more and its quite greasy! My favourites are the ones from the body shop- smell and taste (if you catch them with your tongue... if that makes sense!) lovely and moisturise really well.

  37. My lips don't seem to hold moisture in AT ALL this winter, must be the joy of being sick, in addition to the constant temperature/humidity changes... almost none of my lipbalms work...!
Gonna try the Apivita ones next time I'm at the pharmacy!

Great post, inspired me to dig out all my lip balms too and start the crash-testing, lol!

    xx
