Guerlain Spring 2011- Make-up Collection

Guerlain Spring 2011 Collection
What a gorgeous collection!! it is extremely wearable and I could have quite easily found a place for every single item released with this collection. Its the perfect tribute to spring.. the sheer rose tones are very appropriate! I really had to restrain myself from going crazy.
The new collection is one of the better quality collections Guerlain has released in recent seasons. I have found that their last few 'Terracotta' summer eye shadows have been appallingly patchy and hard to apply. I am very happy to say the quality we all associate with the brand has been maintained in this collection.
It's hard to say what it prettier.. the shades released or the lovely, rather glamorous looking packaging! So, on to what I bought..

Guerlain Blush G
Not quite an ombre blush but a nice sectioned blush that gives you the ability to use the separate shades or to swirl all together. Don't be fooled by the vividness in the pan.. none of the colors apply very strongly. This is a very wearable blush.
If you do want a stronger look it is very easy to layer the product to achieve the desired look. The individual colors are as following; Vitamin orange, Bright fuchsia, Soft Rose & Pearl.
Quite easily the most original item of the collection. I don't think Guerlain has ever come up with something so 'fun' and bright to look at. Normally I associate Guerlain with smokey. sexy bronzed summer looks but its nice to see a fresh pop of color for spring.
A few swatches..

Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick
no71 Rose Desir
A sheer pink that is more strawberry than pink. You can layer it to make the color more intense but I like it very sheer. It instantly brightens up the complexion. There were four gorgeous sheer shades to chose from (a cold pink, a orange and a red) but to me this rose was the stand out.
It comes in the usual Rouge G packaging (with the flip mirror) only that this one is black. Very nice!!

Eyeshadow 187 Li'Instant D'un Soupir
I just had to get my hands on this rich shimmering brown color. It looks gorgeous in all lighting.. but in my opinion it looks best when it gets dark. The shimmer and the warmth in the shimmer really come out in dim lighting!
Such a smooth, creamy consistency. I always use a base with my shadows as my skin can get quite oily throughout the day and this last pretty well throughout the day. I used it once for a soft smokey look and it stayed put for about 6 hours before fading. It applies so well and vivid..the swatch below is just one swipe.
It will now be a permanent color which I am very happy to hear!

I also picked up the Guerlain Meteorites Voyage Powder. Because it's a translucent face powder with sparkles to it, it is very hard to photograph. Anyone familiar with the normal Meteorite range who likes it would love this compact puff version!

So what do you think? Will you be picking up anything from this collection?

  6. I love the packaging of the Meteorites powder - it looks very Art Deco - something you'd want to display on your vanity forever!

I love the other pieces (especially the Vitamin blush shade), but I'm on a ban this year, so I'm not tempted to get anything at the moment :-)

  7. That eyeshadow is just divine! And I can really see you wearing it based on your past sparkly eye looks you've done. You should do a look using this!

  11. Wow, what can I say! These are absolutely stunning and EXACTLY what I would have chosen. I must get my hands on the lipstick and blush at once! The eyeshadow is gorgeous but i have far too many eyeshadows and I am in desperate need to whittle them down so I think i'll pass for now and treat myself later if it is becoming part of the permanent line. As for the powder puff, I have tried a blush by YSL in this format but the colour didnt translate very well onto the skin, so i think this will bve much better as a translucent powder, i may give it a go!

This post is FANTASTIC Tali. I loooooove Guerlain!! Thanks for showing me these fab products.

  20. I love everything you picked out, especially the blush!! Did you ever have the Meteorites in that balls form and what did you think of them? I have been wanting them for ages, but still debating if they are worth it (thinking about getting shade 03, teint dore). Can you remove the puff on this Voyage version and use the powder with you own brush or you have to use the puff?

  21. That eye shadow is *so* tempting! xxx

  22. Mediterraneangirl15- Never had the loose balls but a pressed powder. Personally I love the look on my skin.. its matte but with a luminosity. Very healthy. BUT!!!... I hate hate hate the smell. Like parma violet sweets. It can get a bit annoying over time.
I dont think you can remove the puff.. its very small and compact. So i think you have to use it as it is!

  23. Out of all of the spring collections I decided to purchase things from this collection as well as D&G. I'm not sure what will be available in the States, but I am not leaving Saks without that Rouge G blush!

  24. Such a lovely blush! Beautiful color!

  25. i have one question about the blush! it comes with NO BRUSH at all?!?
that's disappointing! i never use those brushes at home, but if i carry it with me to retouch i like it to have its own little brush!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Martina- It comes with a brush in a hidden layer under the product. But as usual the brush is nothing special.. not even worth mentioning.
A travel brush would be MUCH better as the brush included isnt the right shape to apply blush to the cheeks in a flattering way. x
