Winter Skincare- My Kora Organics Routine & Tips

Since I discovered the Kora Organics line I have pretty much (with the exception of removing eye make-up with DrBronner's soap) stuck to the line.
Normally my skin freaks out when the weather changes and we switch from air conditioning to heating.. but not this year. My skin has never looked better!! Of course this is only my report on what has worked for me, it may not be for everyone.. but I have had such good luck with this brand I do highly recommend it. It really blew away everything else I have ever used.
I used to have combination/sensitive skin but as of the last few months I feel it is now normal/sensitive. I feel I can use anything from this range with confidence it will work for me.

My Current Skincare Routine
Morning- Wash face with Kora foaming cleanser, spritz with either spray and moisturise with Soothing Day & Night cream.
Evening- Wash face with Kora cream cleanser & moisturize. Every 3 days I exfoliate using the face & body exfoliator.

You can read about most of these items here in my first review post on Kora Organics.

New Products From My Last Post
Cream Cleanser- for normal, dry or sensitive skin
I actually prefer the cream cleanser so I shall use up my foaming one but when it comes to re-stocking I'll go for this one!! Very gentle. I dislike a lot of cream cleansers as they can often leave you skin feeling masked by some layer of oily residue.. this is not the case with this cleanser.
It washes completely off and I would say it is more successful at removing make-up than the foaming cleanser. I also much prefer the smell of his one!! Smells softly of rose water.. gorgeous!

Luxurious Rosehip Oil- for all skin types
Love the fact this oil sinks completely in after a few minutes. Its easy to apply too much.. a very small pump will cover your face, neck & decollete. If you have very dry, dehydrated skin you could even use 1/2 a pump in the morning.. wait 5-10 minutes and apply make-up on top.
I feel that this is saving my cheeks from dry patches. I don't use it every day.. maybe one generous pump every second or third before bed and it's really a great addition to my routine.
Kora Organics Tinted Day Cream
This is very versatile. As a tinted moisturiser it dries quick so you have to act fast. The color is similar to the Estee Lauder Double Wear tint so it is more suitable for medium skin tones (or fair with a tan) but if you mix it with a moisturiser the color can be sheered and becomes more adaptable. It gives very very sheer coverage. Perfect for evening out sallow skin tones but not for concealing flaws.
I love to use it mixed with my Soothing Day & Night cream. I am using this as my pollution barrier, cold weather protection device. It dries a little dewy but not at all in a greasy looking way. You can always set it with powder if you like.
(photo is slightly more orange than real life)
I think this is a great way of keeping skin from getting chapped in winter. I also find you can apply foundation on top of it and it looks great and works well as a base.

Kora Organics Body Products
I also got the shower gel & body cream. I am using the moisturiser on my breasts and hips as that's where I have my stretch marks and will definitely repurchase as it is keeping things in order.

You can buy Kora Organics from the official website here and they ship worldwide. I do not work for them so if you want to know prices don't be lazy.. go look for yourself!

Tips for keeping skin soothed & hydrated in winter
1. Invest in an oil. It doesn't have to be Rosehip oil. Google around at different natural oils you can use to give skin that little boost. Evening Primrose, Coconut Oil, Rose Oil, Almond Oil..
2. Stop using face wipes and switch to a creamier cleanser. When its cold and skin feels chapped.. don't strip it further with harsh products. Go for the more gentle options even if it adds 2 minutes to your daily routine.
3. Exfoliate less often. You may think it will keep dry patches smooth but it can be too much for irritated skin. In winter stick to 1-2x per week.
4. It sounds silly to remind people.. but DRINK MORE WATER. You may not be as thirsty as you are in summer but your body still needs the water!
5. Change your foundation. Go for a more hydrating product.. or at the least use a moisturiser before you apply it.

My Number 1 Tip To Keeping Skin Blemish Free
Clean your mobile phone every single day with a disinfecting wipe.
Think about what you touch during the day (public transport railings, doorknobs, your clothing, peoples hands, money..) and all the germs that could be there.. now that is what we transfer onto our faces via our mobile phones.
I'm a total hygiene freak so I take it one step further.. I wipe down my house phone, laptop, ipod, ipad, remote control too. Anything someone would touch when they get home without washing their hands.

In other news.. although I normally refuse to watch talent shows (other than Zvezde Granda) I have been tuning in to this years XFactor. I do like the slightly weird Cher Lloyd but I will be backing Matt Cardle this XFactor. 1:45 onwards I actually teared up when he was singing!

Are you watching XFactor this year? Who's your favourite so far?

  2. Hmmm, I just switch moisturisers between seasons.

For me, the Korres Materia Herba cream (it's organic, too) is the best moisturiser I've tried so far- a little expensive for a Korres product but so worth it! I've repurchased it twice ;)

  4. Cleaning your phone is such a great tip! I'm always using hand gel and washing my hands, germs transferred through phones never occurred to me.

And Matt Cardle and Rebecca are my favorites.

  9. Hi Tali ;)

Thank you, Thank you, for your tips for winter :D
Silly me, always thought because having combination/oily skin i shouldn´t use oils, but definitely going to try one of your suggestions. Have you ever tried Bio-oil? I´ve heard good and bad things about it, what do you think?

BTW, i wrote you a comment in your previous post, but it says first couldn´t sent it, but then says wait till approval, so not sure if you got it. Did you?

  13. I am so tempted to try this skin care line. Currently using Liz Earle, love everything accept i'm pretty sure the moisturiser is too heavy for my normal / combination skin. Just wondered have you ever used Liz Earle?

Thanks for all the great info you post on your blog! x

  15. I am so happy that you posted a review on this line. I got some samples of it once at a swag bag I got after a fashion show but I never bothered to try it figuring that it was just another celebrity posting their name on something. But I am glad to hear that you are having such a great experience! I might have to dig them out now to try!

    Thanks Again!

  18. Hi Tali,

as a general rule - I love Liz Earle. I use cleanse & polish along with instant boost skin tonic and skin repair moisturiser (normal / combination) daily. I also use the deep cleansing mask a couple of times a week. I have normal skin but with an oily t-zone. I am very happy with my routine except I do not feel the moisturiser is doing my oily t-zone any favours although it isn't breaking me out or making it worse as such I just feel the cream sits ontop of this oily area as opposed to being absorbed like the rest of my face. I will soon be ordering skin repair moisturiser light for combo / oily skin and trying this. The deep cleansing mask is probably my favourite product, it can be used on problem areas aswell as an all over mask. When i take it off my pores appear refined and my skin mattified but without any tightness or dryness - love this!

    Hope this helps! x

  22. Ooooo I've been using Almond Oil but I might give Rosehip a whirl as I've heard great benefits about it :)

You have to vote for Matt!! He's best friends with my boyfriend and we're so proud of him. He's genuinely the nicest unassuming guy you'll ever meet :) Wahoo!! :)

  24. I love xfactor - is that a bad thing? Lol.
I definitely LOVE Matt! His voice is beautiful. I also love Rebecca and Cher.

  25. Your tip about wiping down the cell phone is so true! I read that in a magazine somewhere, and after I started doing it, the little bumps I had around the edge of my face, near my ears completely disappeared!

I'm probably one of the very few people in Los Angeles that watches The X Factor, but I'm so addicted! I liked Cher after her first audition, but I think she's overrated. I really like Rebecca though, her voice is gorgeous! For the boys, I like Matt as well..his story just makes you want to root for him!

  26. Tali,I think you might like the Liz Earle cleanser. Its a thick cream but getle. I have very sensitive skin and eyes like you. It works pretty good at taking off MU and does not sting the eyes. The moisturizers are a tad rich for my likeing but the toner is nice and the cleanser. I want to try the line you are using now. Thanks for coming back.

  28. for hydration, i use a lot of masks and oils. it's that time of the year..the allergies are raging and "transitional skin" may be worse than "transitional hair". i need to place my order for this line..i don't know what i'm waiting for! xx

  29. I only get to watch Xfactor through youtube videos, since I am in the US, but I totally agree with you...Matt Cardle is just amazing. I saw his first audition, and just thought he was so unique and wonderful. Cher is adorable, too...so young and so talented.
