Haus Of Gloi- Small haul & review

I am a huge fan of the London MakeUp Girl blog. The only problem is she has very similar tastes to myself and she often triggers dramatic, 'I must buy that or I will simply die' online shopping sprees.

The other day I was reading her blog when I came across the following word, 'Pumpkin'.. and I freaked out. I am a total sucker for pumpkin scented products and anything that sounds luscious and spicy. Before I knew it I was on the Haus Of Gloi website placing my order. Mercifully a lot of the things I wanted were out of stock!

Pretty restrained by my standards! I only got 1 full sized scrub & the rest are sample sized items.

As you can see the sample sized are 2oz/56gr quite generous.. you can get quite a few uses from each little pot.

Hex Sugar Exfoliant

I am a big fan of scrubs.. actually of exfoliating & body brushing in general. It keeps your skin clear, soft & improves skin evenness. In summer regular exfoliation promotes even tanning and in winter it helps skin retain moisture. Massaging scrubs in can also help stimulate your lymphatic system which can help with water retention & cellulite. I didn't hesitate in getting a full sized scrub and I am so glad I did. Look how divine the presentation is!

Very firm which I like. (I am not at all a fan of runny scrubs as I find they do nothing but move around!) I've used it once and it did a good job at making my ashy elbows smooth. I also got a sample of the Hex scrub in the bubbling version.

The bubbling scrubs are different to a conventional scrub in that they foam a little once mixed with water. Very nice. I am not sure which kind of scrub I prefer I like them both!

I love the sweet, candy berry scent of Hex as a scrub but I can not imagine liking it as a body lotion. Its too sweet to be used as that. It's nice to enjoy in the shower and then wash away! Very little scent lingers and what does is a very soft kiss of berry.. so nice!!

Pumpkin Queen Body Lotion

I got the Pumpkin Queen Pumpkin Butter for obvious reasons. It sounds delicious.. 'pumpkin, peaches, cloves, nutmeg'..

When at first got it and sniffed it I felt sick. Too sweet and too creamy.. and too milky? However I realised its wrong to stick your nose in a full pot of product. When you rub a little on your skin its actually very nice. Warm, sweet, creamy & spicy!

It's funny, when I originally started blogging about make-up in 2006 I was called 'Pumpkin Queen'. I remember blogging about Stila (remember the Stila days?) and a limited edition lipgloss collection they came out with. All the glosses were similarly Autumn themed: maple, pumpkin, cider.. Back then no one blogged about make-up so I ended up getting rid of my blog!

Saft Ernte Body Lotion

Now this one was not such a hit scent wise. It is similar to the Pumpkin Queen butter.. but I think the addition of the Hazelnut cream pushed it over the edge for me.

I like creamy things don't get me wrong.. but I can't handle anything that smells too milky and this has a definite dairy edge which I feel clashes with the spice notes. It is my vision of a scent curdling if there ever was one.

The Haus Of Gloi body lotions/ body butters are SO moisturising! They sink in very quickly leaving no residue.. just a lingering scent. They do a great job on extremely rough areas like elbows, knees and chapped skin.

However its advised you do not use them on your face. I have very sensitive skin, especially on my arms where I have some scarring from eczema I has as a teen. These products did not in any way irritate my skin. My skin seems to respond very well to them.

Caramel Apple Lip Balm

This smells divine! Just like real apples with a hit of caramel. I used it once and noticed it had a nice consistency to it. Its a bit more soft than a labello type balm. On the lips it applies clear (colorless stick) with a bit of a sheen. It was a good 4 hours before I needed to apply something again.

I would love to actually get to use it again but Mitzy has already stolen it and rolled it under the bed.

Prices & Shipping

I find the prices incredibly reasonable. They ship to the UK (the shipping is a bit expensive and my order arrived in just over a week. I am loving being able to order the sample sizes so I don't but something full-size I dislike. At $2-3 a sample its not too damaging to the budget! :)

Mitzy The Lipbalm Theif

Seen here with my favourite lipbalm. I have no idea what it is with that kitten and lipbalms but she has a huge collection going!

At first I thought it was because you could roll them but nope.. she couldn't care less about lipstick. It has to be lipbalm.. and receipts. She can spend hours playing with my receipts!
