A Bit Of Spice..

Lush Christmas Part 2
'Glögg' Shower Gel
A boozy, spicy shower gel. Nothing like anything Lush currently sells. Its clearly a scent you will either love or loathe. Personally I really like it as it is so different. It's bursting with heavy brandy notes, red wine, orange juice & cinnamon. Not sweet at all.. quite masculine.
I know how Glögg tastes and this doesn't really smell like it.. I think if Lush could somehow copy more accurately a Mulled wine scent for next year they would be on to a winning cult product a bit like Snow Fairy! If you are a fan of Lush's 'Flying Fox' or Korres 'Juniper & Rum' shower gels you may like this. Very different to what is available elsewhere right now.

Lush Gingerbread House
Bubble Bar
Firstly I just want to say how cute I think the little bubble bar house is!! Mine got a bit smushed as I brought it home but the detail is so, so cheerful right down to the cinnamon stick chimney!!!
Contains ginger, lemon & buchu oil. Again this will be a hit or miss product.. its clearly for someone who loves spicy scents. It turns your bath orange and you only need a 1/2 bar to fill you bath with gorgeous bubbles. This one is getting just for the decoration factor. One will keep your bathroom smelling fresh!

A Bit Of Spice
I am definitely a spicy person. I love rich, deep, complex smells. My everyday perfume is incredibly intense and although I dislike the weather that Autumn & Winter bring.. I am a huge fan of the scents that come or way!
Cinnamon, nutmeg, rum, cloves, chocolate, apples, red wine, oranges, ginger, tea.. these things all remind me of the spicier time of year, Autumn/Winter.
Even the street smells nicer. Roasted chestnuts, smoke from burning leaves, the wet smell of the rain.. DELICIOUS!!

Something about this season makes me want to bake and cook. I love the foodgawker website for great recipes from around the world.
I also find the food available to buy is much more complex flavour wise than in summer. Lots of pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger and warmer ingredients used.
This carrot cupcake I got in TopShop was a big hit in my house and we aren't really cupcake people!

It's the perfect time of year to enjoy a good Dark & Stormy.. one of my all time favourite cocktails! The Rum keeps your body warm while the ginger beer makes your mouth tinge.. perfect on a cold night!
I also really like making (well not so much the making.. more the drinking) mulled wine & hot cider. I'm not a fan of red wine.. but when spiced, heated and served in a mug I am a convert. Love warm cocktails!

What are your favourite things about Autumn? Are you a spicy person? Have you tried these things by Lush yet?.. What do you think?

  2. I'd kill for cinnamon!
Well, not really, but you see what I mean.
I am very sad my Korres Vanilla Cinnamon body spray was discontinued, as I'm halfway through my last backup bottle.
Glad I found Serge Lutens 5 o'clock Au Gingembre for my daily sniff of spices (pink pepper, ginger and many others).
I like sunny Autumn days a lot, unfortunately here they're more grey and rainy :(

This time of year I love being able to wear scarves and mittens again. There's something so cosy about being all wrapped up. I also love the falling of the leaves :)

  15. I am definitely a spicy person! I'm actually in school and most girls are into fruity, vanilla-y sickly sweet things so sometimes it feels weird when I go for more warm scents. Glad to know you enjoy them too! Loving the new banner, I'd love to know what blusher and MAC lipstick are in it!

  26. Mulled wine and roast chestnuts yum! That is the best thing from cold weather. Have to say I like how it's been for the last week in London cool but still sunny, hate the grey weather. I really like when the leaves change in autumn all the reds and yellows just gorgeous.
Like you I have been playing it safe with lush Christmas stuff, but even though I don't like jellies I do like the iced wine jelly it smells of mandarins just reminds me of getting them under a tree when I was a kid, like the satsumo Santa too, but the gingerbread house is def the best.

  29. Emma- it came out so blurry :( I cant believe i used to study photography I cant even focus LOL!!!!

Nou- Shy Girl lipstick and Stereo Rose msf! :)) Glad you like it!! I was scared noone would!!

Abbi- It is shy girl by MAC.. really nice color. Looks better on skin than in the tube! :))

Twilight Truth- Normally my recipe is one bottle red wine, 1/2 glass orange juice, 2 cinnamon sticks, 6 cloves and i let it simmer a bit before straining and serving.
Alternatively you can buy these tea bag things that you put into your wine with all those spices in them which are SO much easier!!

    xx

  30. Marielle T- You are so lucky you are in germany.. here there are too too many cupcakes... too much temptation!!! :P I prefer german food anyway ;)

Perfume Or- Im so bad with perfumes. The only one I can think of was a LE Burberry Brit scent 5 years ago (in an old gold bottle) which I think you would have LOVED!!! :( I hate it when perfume is limited edition. So silly!!

Miss Cupcake- 90!?!??!?! OMG im so jealous! Can we switch for a bit!? lol

  37. I LOVE autumn, it's my favorite time of year! Spicy scents are so comforting to me, yet I find them sexy at the same time. I caved on the Lush Gingerbread house. I also love the Warmth organic soap from Angel Face Botanicals ... it smells of nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon.

Love the new header, btw! Nice shot :)

  39. Hi Tali ;)

I really love Autumn, not only because in October is my birthday as well because i feel it is like a halo of mystery, the moon is awesome and all the traditions that my country has during this season.
I guess because being Mexican i do love spices, and somehow i think that Mexican food (real Mexican not TexMex) is a little bit similar as Indian food because we use a lot of spices while cooking. I like seasoned food (that was a shock when i went to UK for the first time, i notice that most people don´t season their food!!!).
I really like spices in wine, chai and definitely love the smell when you are baking sweet treats with nutmeg, cinnamon etc.
I have a look the link you mention, seems very nice, with a great variety!
I´ve noticed you like very much pasta and some Italian so I thought you might like this link.
